FIGS
/FICUS CARICA/
Ficus carica is an Asian species of flowering plants in the mulberry family, known as the common fig (or just the fig). It is the source of the fruit also called the fig, and as such is an important crop in those areas where it is grown commercially. Native to the Middle East and western Asia, it has been sought out and cultivated since ancient times, and is now widely grown throughout the world, both for its fruit and as an ornamental plant. Dry figs are rich in Vitamin B Complex (B Vitamins) and help metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins and fats. Rich in fibre regular consumption of figs enhances digestive health and treats common digestive disorders such as irregular bowel syndrome, constipation and piles.

RAISINS
/VITIS VINIFERA/
A raisin is a dried grape. Raisins are produced in many regions of the world and may be eaten raw or used in cooking, baking, and brewing. In the United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, and Australia, the word "raisin" is reserved for the dark-coloured dried large grape, with "sultana" being a golden-coloured dried grape, and "currant" being a dried small Black Corinth seedless grape. Raisin varieties depend on the type of grape used, and are made in a variety of sizes and colours including green, black, brown, blue, purple, and yellow.

PRUNES
/PRUNUS DOMESTICA/
A prune is a dried plum of any cultivar, mostly European Plum. The use of the term for fresh fruit is obsolete except when applied to varieties grown for drying. Prunes and their juice contain mild laxatives including phenolic compounds (mainly as neochlorogenic acids and chlorogenic acids) and sorbitol. Prunes also contain dietary fiber (about 7%, or 0.07 g per gram of prune). Prunes and prune juice are thus common home remedies for constipation, but a 2010 review by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) found that the evidence was "insufficient to establish a cause and effect relationship between the consumption of dried plums of "prune" cultivars (Prunus domestica L.) and maintenance of normal bowel function".

APRICOTS
/PRUNUS ARMENIACA/
Dried apricots are a type of traditional dried fruit. When treated with sulfur dioxide (E220), the colour is vivid orange. Organic fruit not treated with sulphur vapour is darker in colour and has a coarser texture. Generally, the lighter the colour, the higher the SO2 content. Light-coloUred varieties (with the sulphur content of more than 2000 ppm) are banned in the European Union. Small apricots are normally dried whole. Larger varieties are dried in halves, without the kernel. Dried apricots are an important source of carotenoids (vitamin A) and potassium.

DATES
/PHOENIX DACTYLIFERA/
It is commonly known as date or date palm, is a flowering plant species in the palm family, Arecaceae, cultivated for its edible sweet fruit. Although its place of origin is unknown because of long cultivation, it probably originated from lands around Iraq. The species is widely cultivated and is naturalized in many tropical and subtropical regions worldwide. Dates have been a staple food of the Middle East and the Indus Valley for thousands of years. There is archaeological evidence of date cultivation in eastern Arabia in 6000 BCE. Dry or soft dates are eaten outof- hand, or may be pitted and stuffed with fillings such as almonds, walnuts, pecans, candied orange and lemon peel, tahini, marzipan or cream cheese.
